Meet Chad

Chad Barefoot is currently serving his first term in the North Carolina Senate. He is the youngest member of the Senate and represents the 18th Senate District which includes Wake and Franklin Counties.

In the Senate, Chad serves as Vice-Chairman of the Senate Education Committee and a member of the Education Appropriations Committee. Chad is also a member of the committees on Health, Finance, Agriculture/Environment/Natural Resources and the Rules Committee.

Chad holds a Master of Arts in Christian Ethics from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, and a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in public management from Appalachian State University.

Prior to joining the Senate, Chad served as a policy advisor to the North Carolina House Majority Leader. He now works as a regional sales director for CRC, Inc., a disaster response and reconstruction firm headquartered in Wake County.

In 2010, Chad was named an E.A. Morris Fellow for Emerging Leaders in North Carolina. In 2011, he was appointed by the Wake County Board of Commissioners to serve on the Wake County Energy Advisory Commission. Each year Chad volunteers for the Baptist Children’s Home of North Carolina by speaking to churches throughout the Triangle area about their annual Thanksgiving offering for children and families in need.

Chad is married to Paige Fitzgerald Barefoot of Raleigh. They have one son, Franklin. Paige and Chad are active members of Capital Community Church.
